Hold on to your butts. A new viral site for Jurassic World has just launched, revealing a bunch of new information about the film.
The website is for Masrani Global, the fictional company which helps build Jurassic World in the upcoming movie. The site contains a lot of interesting information about the company and how Jurassic World came about.
One page emphasizes the character of Dr. Henry Wu, who also appeared in the original Jurassic Park played by B.D. Wong. Wong will be reprising his role in Jurassic World. The site says that after the "unfortunate incident" at Jurassic Park, Wu returned to the island to see how the animals were breeding. He discovered the fact that the amphibian DNA was allowing the dinosaurs to change their sex and breed, leading him to write a new book about combining several species into one new animal.
This leads into the plot of Jurassic World, which will feature a new, genetically engineered species of dinosaur, as we previously reported.
The viral site also gives some history of the company, which acquired InGen in 1998 after the death of John Hammond (Richard Attenborough). InGen worked with Masrani in order to construct Jurassic World on Isla Nublar, and the park opened in 2005 with 98,120 visitors in the first month.
One section of the site references the park's increased security measures, with the fictional CEO Simon Masrani saying, "The media were having a frenzy at the time, conservation groups around the globe were looking and waiting for any incident to tarnish our reputation to try and take Isla Nublar away from us. We had to set a feeling of safety, for when the time came for opening in 2005, we had to ensure people were willing to come."
This character of Simon Masrani will be played by Irrfan Khan in the film.
If this all wasn't exciting enough, a countdown clock has appeared on JurassicWorld.com which ends next Thursday at 9PM EST (Thanksgiving.) The rumor is that this is when we'll see the first official trailer for the film, according to Slashfilm.
The viral site has plenty of interesting pictures on it of the characters and the park. We still haven't seen any pictures of the park's dinosaurs yet, though we did get a tease of one of them earlier in LEGO form.
Jurassic World will be directed by Colin Trevorrow and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson and Judy Greer. It takes place 22 years after Jurassic Park, when a fully functioning Jurassic Park theme park has actually opened on Isla Nublar, fulfilling Dr. Hammond's original vision. But this time they'll be genetically modified dinosaurs. What could possibly go wrong?
Jurassic World opens on June 12, 2015.
