A wedding dress Madonna wore back in the 1985 when she married Sean Penn was just one of the many big-ticket items sold at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills this weekend. The auction house sold off a collection of Madonna’s outfits, as well as other pieces of memorabilia from music history.
Julien’s Auctions told The Associated Press that the wedding dress sold for $81,250, while the dress she wore in the “Material Girl” video went for $73,125.
But those items came in well behind the biggest item of the auction. Her Desperately Seeking Susan jacket sold for $252,000, setting a new record, notes the BBC.
The auction also included items from other music legends, like John Lennon, James Brown, Prince, Elvis Presley and Stephen Stills.
A pair of Lennon’s glasses sold for $25,000, while a lot with guitars owned by Stills and Prince went for $43,750. One of Brown’s sequined capes sold for $41,600.
