Brenton Thwaites, who recently starred in Disney’s Maleficent, is reportedly looking to stay at the Mouse House. He’s in talks to star in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Thwaites would play Henry, a British soldier, according to TheWrap, which first reported the news. He would join returning stars Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, while Javier Bardem is still in talks for a villain role.
Ian McShane and Stephen Graham are also expected to return. Keith Richards could have another cameo.
Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter describes Thwaites’ part as Will Turner-esque, which may mean that Disney isn’t interested in bringing back Orlando Bloom for anything more than a cameo part.
Pirates 5 is being directed by Kon Tiki team Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. Shooting will take place in Australia next year. The film is set for a July 2017 release.
Thwaites was last seen as the prince in Maleficent and in The Giver. He also appeared in The Signal recently made Gods of Egypt with Gerard Butler.
