A man accused of killing his girlfriend in Washington state was arrested in Oregon Wednesday. He made the mistake of posting grisly images of her beaten body online.

Portland police told KOMO in Seattle that David Michael Kalac was arrested around 9 p.m. in Clackamas County, Oregon. The 33-year-old actually walked up to a police car and turned himself in, Clackamas County sheriff's Sgt. Nate Thompson said.

“The deputy stopped, got out and talked to the male,” Thompson said. “He actually identified himself and said he was wanted in Washington for murder.”

CNN reports that Kalac is facing second-degree murder charges in the death of Amber Lynn Coplin, 30. Police arrived at an apartment in Port Orchard, Washington Tuesday, where they found Coplin’s body.

Around that time, they were also receiving tips about photos of a battered woman posted on Imgur and 4chan.

Deputy Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Department told CNN that the initial posts included text about how the body would be found anyway and what the killer planned to do. “We took this very seriously. We have no reason to believe that anyone posted them but him,” Wilson said.

Police described the grisly scene, noting that the word “dead” was written on Coplin’s driver’s license and left near her body. “Bad news” was written on the blinds and “she killed me first” was written on a picture.

Coplin has a teen son, who told police that his mother and Kalac argued on Monday night, according to court records obtained by KOMO. When the son left for school Tuesday morning, Kalac was gone and his mother was sleeping late. He arrived back at school to find his mother’s car missing and his mother “unresponsive.”

Kalac is currently at a county jail in Portland and will be extradited back to Washington.
