Mark Wahlberg will reteam with his Lone Survivor director Peter Berg for the film adaptation of The Six Billion Dollar Man.

As Empire pointed out, the title has been slightly tweaked from the original Lee Majors TV show The Six Million Dollar Man. This is probably to bring the story into the modern era, where robotic limbs and eyes would cost more than they did at the time of the original program.

The show centered on former astronaut Steve Austin, the survivor of an experimental plane crash. After the near-deadly event, scientists rebuilt him with bionic parts to make him “better, stronger, faster.” After that he became an agent of the government, thwarting evildoers with slow-motion combat. Wahlberg will play Austin in the upcoming film.

Berg is directing the film for The Weinstein Co.’s Dimension Films, according to Deadline. The film is expected to shoot next year with the hope of a 2016 release.

We reported that Wahlberg has also recently signed on for Daddy’s Home with Will Ferrell, so he’ll have a busy year. His next release will be The Gambler, coming out later this year.
