Between The Hobbit movies and shows like Sherlock and Fargo, Martin Freeman is an actor whose hardly starving for work these days. Now, the British star is in talks to join Tina Fey and Margot Robbie in the dark comedy The Taliban Shuffle.

The Hollywood Reporter reports the new development on the film directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy Stupid Love). Freeman will play Fey's character's boyfriend and unexpected love interest, a dedicated Scottish photojournalist.

Based on the memoir by journalist Kim Barker, Taliban Shuffle tells the story of Barker's fish-out-of-water arrival in Kabul, where she files stories about militants and dealing with the difficulties of war and being a woman in Iraq and Pakistan. Fey, in addition to starring as Barker, will also produce the film alongside SNL's Lorne Michaels. Word on The Taliban Shuffle movie first came out back in July.

Robbie, starring as a competing, hard-core on-air reporter, will be reteaming with her Focus directors for the film. Focus, also starring Will Smith, hits theaters on February 27, 2015.

Freeman, coming off his Emmy-nominated work in Sherlock and Fargo, will next be seen in the trilogy-ending The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies on Dec. 17. At the moment, he is in production on the film The Eichmann Show. To tie everything together, according to Entertainment Weekly, Freeman will host Michael's SNL on Dec. 13 with musical guest Charli XCX. It will serve as the first time the actor has hosted the variety show.
