The Minions, the cutesy nonsense-talking critters of Despicable Me, are getting their own movie.
A new trailer for Minions was released, according to The Independent. The trailer, released on Monday, details the adventures of three Minions as they look for a new evil leader before they find Gru from the Despicable Me films. Some of the voices revealed for the film include Sandra Bullock, Allison Janney, and Jon Hamm.
The trailer had shown that the Minions have lived for a very long time, according to Entertainment Weekly, following masters including an Egyptian pharaoh and a dinosaur. When they don’t have a master, the three Minions named Kevin, Stuart, and Bob try to find a new one for their people. The film will take place in New York City 42 years before they become Gru’s army.
The Despicable Me series is highly successful. The first movie made over half a billion dollars worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo, while the sequel gained almost one billion dollars. Most of the sequel’s money came from foreign markets.
Minions will be released on July 10, 2015, according to the Independent. A third Despicable Me movie is currently being developed.
