This are moving fast for Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin’s Steve Jobs biopic, which is now set up at Universal just days after Sony dumped it. Now, Natalie Portman is in talks to join.
The casting news was first reported by Deadline, which notes that it isn’t clear what her role is. It was reported earlier this month when Christian Bale left that there was a big female role in the film that Jessica Chastain was under considered for.
Sony surprisingly dropped the Jobs movie, despite still having Boyle onboard. There was no reason given, but it is possible that some uncertainty about who will play Jobs triggered that. Currently, Michael Fassbender is in talks for the role.
Earlier this week, Universal officially picked up the film, so the producers are back to work. Scott Rudin, Christian Colson, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady are producing. Sorkin’s script is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography on the late Apple co-founder.
Portman won her Oscar for Black Swan and just filmed her directing debut, A Tale of Love and Darkness. She also stars in and produced Jane Got A Gun and appears in two Terrence Malick movies that will be released eventually.
