Orange is the New Black star Lea DeLaria, who plays Big Boo on the hit Netflix show, took on a preacher on the subway in New York on Monday morning.
While taking the M Train to Queens, DeLaria, who wore a “Bad Jew” T-shirt, shouted back and forth with the religious preacher during the span of numerous stops.
She called him a "creepy religious fanatic," and told him “Religious fanatics are the reason America's in trouble, sir.”
A fellow subway rider provided videos to Gothamist, showing DeLaria eventually trying to drown his preachings out by leading “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.”
When the preacher started spewing hate against homosexuality, DeLaria was happy to fight back.
“Read your Bible and you'll learn that this man is not doing anything that Jesus asked him. Not one thing,” she told her fellow commuters. “Jesus said, ‘Pay no attention to a man who makes a show of their faith, because they do it for themselves, and not for God.'”
After the incident, DeLaria took to social media to encourage her fans to respond to someone who called her a “fat, ugly, angry, feminist, lesbian.” She wrote, “So this guy has an opinion. Anybody wanna show him ours? I'm sure he'd love to get a few tweets,” she wrote.
