A Pennsylvania teenager is staring at a possible jail sentence after he simulated sex acts with a Jesus statue and later uploaded the pictures to social media.
The teen posted the photographs featuring him standing in front of a kneeling Jesus statue (you should get the idea of what he was doing) to his Facebook page, KRON 4 reports.
He posted the photos back in July and now stands accused of the rare charge of desecration of a venerated object, which state law says involves "Defacing, damaging, polluting or otherwise, physically mistreating in a way that the actor knows will outrage the sensibilities of persons likely to observe or discover the action."
According to WTAJ, the 14-year-old faces a possible two-year juvenile jail stint.
The Bedford County district attorney, Bill Higgins, made it known he was taking the charge against the teen seriously since the 14-year-old boasted and publicly posted the photographs. "He's going to be held accountable for it" since the only goal was to "offend people."
Love in the Name of Christ Ministry Center, who installed the Jesus statue, has come out to say they weren't the ones to press charges against the teen.
The teen has since apologized for his actions.
