Actress Pia Zadora suffered a serious head injury on Thursday after she fell out of golf cart near her Summerlin home while her son, Jordan, was driving.

The 17-year-old took a hard left turn while both were in the cart on a street near their home and Zadora tumbled out and hit her head, The Las Vegas Sun reports.

She started to bleed onto her brain, her husband, Mike Jeffries said. Zadora also suffered a right ankle fracture.

"It was an inadvertent golf cart accident," her manager Brian Panella told NBC News. "Her son was driving and he took a rather hard turn and she was tossed out of the golf cart."

While she was initially in and out of consciousness in intensive care at the hospital, Panella said she is doing better and is expected to recover without lasting injury. Doctors first thought she might have bruising on her brain, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

The actress has appeared in both film and on Broadway, being a part of the original Fiddler on the Roof production. Zadora has also had roles in Hairspray, Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult and Butterfly.
