Nine people, including a popular minister, were killed when a small plane headed to Grand Bahama crashed on Sunday.
The Bahamas Tribune reported that the leader of the island’s Faith Ministries Dr. Myles Munroe and his wife Ruth, are among the dead.
NBC News noted that the minister, who was a well-known Christian preacher and motivational speaker, was headed to Freeport for a Global Leadership Forum organized by his ministry. Munroe would appear and speak often at such Christian gatherings with other internationally known preachers.
Police have not yet disclosed the names of everyone on the aircraft, but said that there were no survivors and the plane was destroyed.
Bahamian authorities confirmed that the Lear 36 executive jet left Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau just after 4:00 p.m. and crashed trying to land in Grand Bahama about an hour later.
So far the cause of the crash has not yet been determined. It is currently under investigation by the Department of Civil Aviation.
