Ryan Reynolds is very excited about the arrival of his first child in early 2015 with wife, Blake Lively.
The actor is even prepared to take on the messy side of parenting that most parents don’t enjoy because he’s already gotten experience with it.
“I don’t have a weak stomach,” Reynolds told People on Saturday at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research Benefit in New York. “I’m good with diapers and diarrhea and all that kind of stuff because I have lots of nieces and nephews, so I’ve done it all before.”
Reynolds, who got married to Lively, 27, in September 2012, believes that his first child with the Gossip Girl star will keep him grounded, Daily Mail notes.
The 38-year-old also revealed which part of being a father he is most looking forward to. “I’m just excited about having a buddy,” Reynolds shared. “We don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet, but whatever it is, you have this tether to reality that never goes away.”
Reynolds has previously joked about what he will name his baby. "On the plane over here I was trying to think of baby names. I don’t want a name that’s anything pretentious or, like, Hollywood-y," he told etalk.
As far as parenting goes, Reynolds is aware that mistakes are bound to happen, but he is committed to not letting that fear slow him down, Daily Mail reports.
“For a lot of new dads, you tend to dwell on the mistakes you don’t want to make,” Reynolds added “I’m at that stage still where I’m focused primarily on being open and understanding and leaving a lot of room for error.”
