This is turning out to be a pretty crazy week for movie trailers. Earlier today we had the announcement that the Jurassic World trailer will premiere on Thursday, and now we're hearing that the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens trailer may actually premiere this week too.

Earlier this week, we reported the rumor that the Force Awakens trailer would be attached to The Hobbit. Later, a source told Slashfilm that this was not true and that Disney had "bigger plans."

Well, this new rumor would definitely qualify. Slashfilm is now reporting that the Force Awakens trailer will debut in select theaters this weekend.

This confirmation comes after a user posted on Reddit that the trailer would premiere on Thanksgiving weekend at select theaters, and it would play before every movie at every showtime the entire weekend. The text of that post has since been deleted, but another user posted that rumor on the Star Wars subreddit shortly before.

Slashfilm is not confirming the Reddit post about the trailer playing before every single movie, but they are confident in the report that the trailer will play over Thanksgiving weekend. "I am very sure the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer will be publicly premiered this week on the big screen somehow," Peter Sciretta wrote.

Of course the question now is what theaters will be playing it? That isn't clear, and we're hoping Disney will make some sort of official announcement in the next few days, or at the very least someone will be able report on a list of theaters. Typically trailers for movies only appear in front of select movies, so the idea of showing the Force Awakens trailer before every single screening would be pretty crazy and unprecedented, especially over a weekend where a lot of people flock to the movies.

Either way, we don't want to be too confident in this rumor with only Slashfilm and the two Reddit users reporting it, but the idea that we may go to the theaters this weekend and see footage from the new Star Wars is pretty insane. Unless we get a list of theaters though, this might end up being a Willy Wonka golden ticket situation, where we'll just have to hope we're lucky enough to have the right theater and get super pissed off when Big Hero 6 starts without any Star Wars footage before it.
