Jack O'Connell will star in a new modern take on Don Quixote from director Terry Gilliam.
O'Connell, star of the upcoming film Unbroken, will play a burnt out commercial director named Toby who visits Spain and ends up on a journey to find a the location of an old Spanish village. It was reported that Johnny Depp was Gilliam's choice for Toby but it appears that O'Connell will be filling the role.
Gilliam never stopped dreaming the impossible of dream of having his version of Don Quixote reach the big screen and is currently going through his seventh attempt to have the film made.
“I've done it so many times — or not done it so many times — I'll believe it when I see it,” Gilliam told The Wrap. “However, I'm behaving as if it's all going to happen as planned.”
Gregoire Melin joins Gilliam on his quest and is responsible for finding a distributor for the film.
“We believe this film will capture the essence of everything audiences loved in Gilliam’s unforgettable masterpieces such as ‘Brazil,’ ‘Time Bandits’ and ‘The Adventures of Baron Munchausen,’” Melin told Variety.
Don Quixote is expected to come out in May, 2016, as long as everything goes according to plan this time.
