NBC's Peter Pan Live! is just a few weeks from premiering and the cast including Allison Williams and Christopher Walken are thrilled to bring the challenging production to life.
Peter Pan Live! brings the classic theatrical play to television where families of all ages will get a chance to enjoy the art of theatre without leaving their couch.
Walken, who is playing the villainous Captain Hook, is no stranger to performing but even an experienced actor like himself admits in a new first look video that a live television event like this is "intimidating."
Williams brings to life the boy who refuses to grow up and thinks that Walken is the perfect fit for Peter Pan's archenemy.
"He is so deeply cool, even when he's not doing anything, he's better at acting than I've ever been. Even when he's just sitting around, he's funnier than I've ever been," Williams said in the video. "To this next generation of kids seeing this as their first Peter Pan, he will be Captain Hook and he will not disappoint."
This is NBC's second time producing a live musical broadcast with the first being The Sound of Music which featured Carrie Underwood. NBC has strong feelings that live television events like this will soon become a standard.
“No one had done it since the fifties,” co-producer Craig Zadan said in an interview with TIME. “Live TV is the future. It’s the only way you can beat the DVRing of America. Everything is DVRed and no one watches stuff when it’s on. Awards shows and sports are watched when they’re broadcast.”
Peter Pan Live! takes flight December 4th live on NBC.
