Familiar characters appear in this week’s big releases. When the world is in danger, characters from a popular children’s film take action. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jennifer Aniston reprise their role for the sequel to their hit 2011 film.
When starting their own company and becoming their own bosses begins to flounder, Nick, Kurt and Dale must take matters into their own hands to stay afloat in Horrible Bosses 2. Their master plan to kidnap their former investor’s son starts to backfire on them. The one hour and forty-eight minute comedy sequel stars Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz. It’s rated R for sex and language.

Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private go on a mission to save the world in Penguins of Madagascar. They team up with a spy organization to take down the evil Dr. Octavius Brine. The PG, animated adventure comedy plays for one hour and thirty-two minutes.

Set during World War II, The Imitation Game tells the story of Alan Turing, a mathematician who decrypted Nazi messages with the world’s first computer. Despite being a war hero for helping break the Engima code, years later he was arrested because of his sexuality. The PG-13 biographic drama stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode. It runs for one hour and fifty-three minutes.

A down on his luck man, on the verge of committing suicide, is stopped when his sister calls asking for his help to babysit her daughter in Before I Disappear. The drug addicted man and his conservative young niece form an unlikely bond during their nighttime adventure in New York City. The unrated drama is running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-nine minutes.

A character from a scary storybook haunts a widowed mother and her child in The Babadook. In the one hour and thirty-three minute film, a child, who is scared of monsters, is convinced that one is in his house. While his mother tries to assure him that monsters aren’t real, she soon discovers evil around her. The limited released drama is unrated.

Just as in this week’s Before I Disappear, a reckless character finds new hope in life in Reese Witherspoon’s new film debuting next week, Wild. Also making its way into limited theaters on December 5 is a new drama starring Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth, Alec Baldwin and Julianne Moore.
