The United States Federal Government spent $10 million dollars on a video game called Escape from Diab which encourages kids to eat healthier.
Funded by the National Institute of Health, Escape from Diab follows the story of a boy named Deejay who is sick of living in the city of Diab where obesity runs rampant because junk food is free.
"He finds new friends and agrees to help them prepare for their escape to the legendary Golden City, using everything he has learned about nutrition and exercise from his track coach," the video game's website reads.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, game developer Archmage Inc. received a total of $9,091,409 to develop two games, one of them being Escape from Diab.
But where can kids play this game so that they can learn about healthy eating? Unfortunately, the game is not open to the public and was used to test 133 kids in a private study.
The study found that after playing the game, kids ate .67 more servings of vegetables although they did not increase their physical activity.
