DC's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to be an absolutely massive movie, and so the film is appropriately being shot to be literally as massive as possible.

According to Variety, Zack Snyder will be using IMAX cameras on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It's not clear how much of the movie will be shot on this format, but it will probably be similar to movies like The Dark Knight Rises, which shot only the biggest scenes in IMAX. This resulted in the aspect ratio shifting back and forth between regular and IMAX throughout the movie.

The IMAX format allows for a much larger aspect ratio and for higher resolution, with the film being 70mm as opposed to the traditional 35mm. A lot of movies have been released in IMAX over the past few years, though not every one of these is actually shot in IMAX.

According to Slashfilm, the film is currently shooting in Chicago, and a number of fans have posted observations from the set on Twitter. Slashfilm also reports that we have seen non-IMAX cameras being used for Batman v. Superman in production photos, indicating that the IMAX will probably only be used for key scenes in the movie.

The movie will also be giving us yet another glimpse into Bruce Wayne's backstory. According to ComicBook.com, a fan posted a photo on Instagram from the set of the film. Here we can see the theater where Bruce Wayne's parents see The Mask of Zoro before being shot and killed.
