If you are an avid fantasy football player you have probably watched The League and are familiar with ‘The Shiva.’ The infamous trophy will be up for grabs one final time as FX announced The League will return for a seventh and final season in 2015. The League has been one of the more popular shows for FX and recently moved to FXX before the premiere of season five in 2013.
The show is focused on a group of friends who live in Chicago and who are in a very passionate and committed fantasy football league. They have competitions for draft picks and have their drafts at various locations that have included Las Vegas, a bachelor party in Los Angeles and a hospital room before a birth. The show has had several cameos from NFL players including J.J. Watt, Jay Cutler and Darren Sproles. According to Entertainment Weekly, the final season will have a complete 13 episodes and we will see who wins the final ‘Shiva.’
The sixth season of The League was the first time the show did not air right after another popular FX show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia reports Deadline. The show was still able to maintain solid ratings after switching to FXX and has continued a loyal following of fans that helped keep the show going after an unpromising start. The show has probably generated many different ideas and competitors for real-life fantasy leagues.
The final season of The League will be airing on FXX during the fall of 2015. The show just concluded its sixth season last month.
