After a convicted sexual predator won millions on a scratch-off lottery ticket, his alleged victims are suing him for damages.
The Sky Valley Chronicle noted that two brothers who were 5 and 9-years-old at the time of the alleged abuse, filed a lawsuit against Timothy Poole in Orange County Circuit Court Monday. The siblings claim that the 43-year-old Poole owes them for psychological damages and pain and suffering.
As previously reported, Poole won $3 million after buying the lottery ticket from a convenience store in Mount Dora, Florida just over two weeks ago. He opted to take the lump sum payment of about $2.2 million and after claiming his winnings and posing for a picture with the check, people recognized him as a sexual predator.
In 1999, Poole was accused of sexual battery of a minor. He denied the allegation, but pleaded guilty to attempted sexual battery and was sentenced to time served. His probation was revoked after he did not show up for counseling in 2003.
Legislature eliminated the statute of limitations for victims of sexual battery under the age of 16 in 2010.
