The music community had a full day of excitement on Friday, which was capped with A Very GRAMMY Christmas, where the Recording Academy announced the nominees for the top Grammy - Album of the Year.

During the day, Grammy nominations were unveiled on Twitter, with other artists announcing individual categories on their profiles. However, the Album of the Year nominees weren’t announced until the CBS Christmas special, which aired at 9 p.m.

The nominees for the category shouldn’t surprise anyone who was following the nominees during the day. Beck, whose Morning Phase was nominated for Best Rock Album, was also nominated for Album of the Year. Best Urban Contemporary Album nominees Beyonce and Pharrell Williams’ GIRL are also up for the award.

Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour and X by Ed Sheeran were also nominated.

The nominees for Record of the Year are “Francy” by Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX; Sia’s “Chandelier”; Smith’s “Stay With Me”; Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”; and Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass.”

The Song of the Year nominees are “All About That Bass” (Kevin Kadish & Meghan Trainor); “Chandelier” (Sia Furler & Jesse Shatkin); “Shake It Off” (Max Martin, Shellback & Taylor Swift); “Stay With Me” (James Napier, William Phillips & Sam Smith); and Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” (Andrew Hozier-Byrne).

The most nominated artists are Beyonce, Smith and Williams, who each scored six nods. Iggy Azalea, Beck, Eric Church, recording engineer Tom Coyne, Drake, Gordon Goodwin, Jay Z, Miranda Lambert, Sia, Usher, and Jack White each earned four nominations.
