The American Film Institute posted its list of Top 10 films and television shows from 2014. While the movie list is pretty much a collection of the same movies critics have included on other lists, the picks for best TV shows were more adventurous.

On the film side, the jury finished with 11 movies, thanks to a tiebreaker. It’s the first time in the institute’s history that they went over 10. Their lists are not ranked and the movies were listed alphabetically.

Birdman and Boyhood both made the list after winning awards from critics over the past two weeks. Whiplash, which has won awards for J.K. Simmons’ supporting performance, also made the list.

Nightcrawler and Interstellar were among the widely released films to make it.

Most of the list was filled with movies that the public hasn’t seen yet. Into The Woods, Unbroken, Selma, The Imitation Game, Foxcatcher and Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper haven’t hit wide release yet.

It’s worth noting that getting on the AFI list doesn’t always result in a Best Picture Oscar nomination. Both Inside Llewyn Davis and Saving Mr. Banks made last year’s list, but failed to get a Best Picture nod.

On the TV side, the only broadcast network shows to make it was the Shonda Rhimes-produced How To Get Away With Murder from ABC and The CW’s Jane The Virgin.

The rest of the TV list includes FX’s The Americans and Fargo; HBO’s Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley; Cinemax’s The Knick; AMC’s Mad Men; Netflix’s Orange is the New Black; and Amazon’s Transparent.
