Boxing great Muhammad Ali was hospitalized with pneumonia on Saturday morning.
CNN reported that Ali’s spokesman Bob Gunnell said the former boxer was admitted to the hospital with "a mild case of pneumonia."
“Ali, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, is being treated by his team of doctors and is in stable condition,” Gunnell said in a statement.
“At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy.”
The 72-year-old has been battling the debilitating neurological condition for three decades.
WHAS 11 noted that although Ali made fewer made public appearances over the years due to the toll the disease has had on him, he made several in 2014. He was last seen just 12 days ago in Reno, Nevada at his grandson’s high school football championship.
Born Cassius Clay, Ali is often referred to as the greatest boxer ever. His storied professional career spanned from 1960 to 1981. He had rivalries with other boxing greats from his era including George Foreman and Smokin' Joe Frazier.
