Billy Magnussen owes Meryl Streep big time!

Magnussen revealed in an interview with The New York Post that Streep, an 18-time Oscar nominee, is responsible for getting him the role of Rapunzel’s Prince in the upcoming movie, Into the Woods. Streep told the film’s director Rob Marshall to look into the rising star after she saw him in the play “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” back in 2013.

According to Us Weekly magazine, he earned a Tony nomination for his role as Spike in the play.

Marshall listened to Streep and booked Magnussen for the role. “I remember the first day coming into rehearsal. Meryl was like, ‘Listen, I want you to know, I got you this f -- king part’,” Magnussen said in the interview.

At a recent screening of the film, Magnussen was a big hit with the audience, according to The New York Post. Magnussen is best known for his role on the soap opera As the World Turns. Audiences can see Magnussen star in his first major on-screen role when Into the Woods opens Christmas Day.
