Famous musician, Joe Cocker died earlier today, at age 70, as a result of lung cancer.
LA Times reported that he died at his home in Colorado, and left behind a wife, Pam Cocker, brother, Victor Cocker, step-daughter, Zoey Schroeder, and two grandchildren. Cocker, who is probably best known for his cover of the hit song “With a Little Help From My Friends,” is being remembered by many today.
Sony Music Chairman and CEO Edgar Berger had this to say: "His iconic voice will forever be etched in our memories. Joe will live on in the hearts of millions of fans around the world." He couldn’t be more right, as fans are using social media sites such as twitter to share their thoughts and express their sympathies.
Cocker is being remembered by celebrities, organizations, and fans alike. Most of the tweets simply state RIP along with the hashtag #RIPJoeCocker. However, some tweets seem much more personal, and many share memorable videos and photographs. The Today Show tweeted a video of Cocker and John Belushi performing “Feelin’ Alright” as their tribute to the late rock legend, and E! Online posted their own tweet, linking their article covering his death, and sharing their condolences.
PETA expressed their gratitude for Cocker’s support over the years with this tweet.
Entertainment Weekly published several celebrity tweets, including Ringo Starr, Steven Tyler, and Bryan Adams.
Cocker’s inspiration reached far and wide, from encouraging other artists to being the back drop of so many lives. Joe Cocker really is a legend!
