Travel plans could be disrupted this week for millions of Americans by rain and snowstorms that are being forecast for several parts of the country.
The National Weather Service has said that storms and gusty winds expected across the U.S. could damper air travel plans.
Temperatures in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast are expected to be on the warm side leaving just the threat of rain, not snow. Same goes for those in the Gulf Coast states. Residents in the northwestern states can expect heavy rain as well, but also could get mountain snow.
The Weather Channel noted that that low clouds and rain may delay flight delays at airports in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Charlotte and Atlanta.
Rain changing over to snow could cause potential delays in the north and Midwest on Monday right through to Christmas Day.
AAA said it is expecting 98.6 million Americans to travel 50 miles or more during this holiday season, which is a 4 percent increase from last year.
