Some actors retire in their 90s, but not Christopher Lee. He suddenly became a heavy metal star.
Lee is back with another single, again taking his iconic voice to an unexpected level. This time, the legendary British actor’s new Christmas Metal single is “Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing.”
The new track, a reworking on “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” follows up last year’s surprising hit “Jingle Hell,” which actually reached No. 18 on the Billboard chart. It helped the 92-year-old Lee became the oldest artist with a charting single in history.
"It's light-hearted, joyful and fun. It's a band singing on how metal should be played, the effect it has on the band and its listeners,” Lee explained in a statement, posted at Blabbermouth.
Lee added that this is one thing that he genuinely enjoys doing. “I do not know how long I am going to be around, so every day is a celebration and I want to share it with my fans,” the Lord of the Rings actor said.
Lee celebrated his 92nd birthday in May with a seven-song EP called Metal Knight. Each song was from The Man of La Mancha.
