Courtney Love will not have any editorial involvement in the first authorized documentary about her late husband, Kurt Cobain.

Director Brett Morgen confirmed it’s in everyone’s best interest if she didn’t have any say in that aspect of Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck because she’s a subject of the film.

“She gave me the keys to this kingdom and final cut of the film," he told The Hollywood Reporter of Love giving him access to the Nirvana frontman’s musical archives. She was the one who approached him to do the film in 2007.

"At a certain point, I started working more closely with [Frances Bean]," he said. "We [all] agreed that because Courtney was a subject in the film, it would be best if she wasn't given editorial control."

Love and Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean, will actually serve as executive producer on the project.

“I'm really excited for you guys to see Montage of Heck. @brettmorgen created an intense yet wonderful examination of Kurt's life & art,” she tweeted recently.

For those hoping to see the film, it will premiere at the Sundance festival next month and on HBO next year.
