Facebook is updating their search engine for posts.
One of the biggest social media companies is updating Facebook Search for people to find older posts, according to Search Engine Land. They are improving Facebook Graph Search, which took over for the original engine in 2013.
The new Facebook Search won’t only rely on users searching specific phrases, but instead write keywords to search for previous posts, according to Tech Crunch. Search results will show up similar to a person’s News Feed with the keyword having a blue shade around it, among other criteria.
Search Engine Land also reported that posts searched by the user would be specific to the connections of the user over Facebook. The user would only be able to find posts from different pages they follow, including posts from a liked page, registered friend, or other person. Public post from someone the user hasn’t connected with could still be found as long as the post included hashtags.
Tom Stocky, Vice President of search at Facebook, said to Search Engine Land that this update was released today for the desktop computers and the app for iOS-enabled devices, with all users receiving the update in the next two weeks.
