Former President George H.W. Bush was released from a Houston hospital after one week and according to his spokesman, is now resting at home.
Bush’s post-White House spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted the news on Tuesday. McGrath also said that Bush and his wife Barbara would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support.
As previously reported, the 90-year-old was taken to Methodist Hospital last week when he experienced shortness of breath.
The healthcare facility is the same one that he spent nearly two months in when he was treated for a persistent cough in 2012. That time, Bush was also hospitalized during the Christmas holiday.
The 41st and oldest-living president suffers from vascular Parkinsonism, which is a form of Parkinson's disease. Because of the disease, he relies on a wheelchair and scooter to get around.
Last month, Bush made two public appearances. One was at Texas A&M University with his son, former President George W. Bush and the other was as a coin-toss captain for a Houston Texans game.
