In just over a month's time, the 2015 Sundance Film Festival will be premiering some of the hottest independent films of the year. While they have already released their competition films and midnight selections, they haven't announced their premieres, until now.
On the Sundance Film Festival's website is where readers can see when some of the year's biggest indies make their premieres. Featuring new movies Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale), Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) and James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now), just to name a few, these films will star tons of celebrities, including James Franco, Ethan Hawke, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Anna Kendrick, Sam Rockwell, Ewan McGregor, Viola Davis, Jason Sudeikis, Alison Brie and Patrick Wilson, just to name a few.
Among the hottest titles in this year's line-up include End of the Tour, Ponsoldt's biopic on the late author David Foster Wallace starring Segel and Eisenberg, I Am Michael, a true story about a gay activist who rejects his homosexuality to become a Christian pastor starring Franco, Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts, Lila & Eve, a drama starring Lopez and Davis, Mississippi Grind, the newest film from Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden starring Reynolds, the comedy Sleeping with Other People, starring Sudekis, Brie and Adam Scott, Mistress America, Baumbach's reunion with his Frances Ha star and co-writer Greta Grewig and Don Verdean, Hess' reunion with his Gentlemen Broncos stars Rockwell and Jemaine Clement.
News of the new Sundance titles comes just four days after the competition titles were announced. This year's Sundance Film Festival runs from January 22-February 1. Like every year, these sound like a great selection of films, and I wish I could get there to experience the new films.
