Jump Street and Men In Black together in the same film? It may happen.
Leaked e-mails from the head of Sony Pictures, Amy Pascal, revealed that the sequel to 22 Jump Street would combine with the world of MIB, The Wall Street Journal reported. That film would feature the lead characters of the hit R-rated comedies, portrayed by Channing Tatem and Jonah Hill, mixed with the world of the famous sci-fi comedy formerly starring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. The latter two stars may not be featured in the new film.
Hill sent an e-mail to Pascal explaining his enthusiasm about the idea of the crossover, saying that he thought the idea was “clean and rad and powerful,” according to WSJ. Production president of Columbia Pictures Hannah Minghella also e-mailed Pascal to say that the film was given permission for production due to the idea and talent involved.
The directing duo of the Jump Street movies, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will possibly direct the crossover film, according to Polygon. The film is aiming for a release in either 2016 or 2017.
