In a series of shocking tweets, Lil Wayne revealed he wants out of the Cash Money label, where he spent his entire career.
On Thursday, the rapper revealed his The Carter V will not be getting released at all. The release date was set for Dec. 9, but it was clear by the lack of marketing that it would at least be delayed. Now we know for sure we won’t be hearing it, as YMCMB “refuse” to release it.
“To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won't and hasn't been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,” he wrote. “This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation.”
“I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain't that easy,” he continued. “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity.”
Back in March, Wayne talked about the project, saying it would be his last solo album. It was previously set to come out on May 5, so its constant delays should’ve been a warning as to what was really going on at the label.
