Free agent outfielder Melky Cabrera signed with the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.

According to Fox Sports, the deal is for three years and $42 million. The White Sox haven’t confirmed the signing yet and Cabrera still has to have and pass a physical. Chicago radio station WSCR 670-AM was the first to report the signing, while White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton welcomed Cabrera to the team on Twitter.

“The Melk Man!!! Welcome fella!! @TheMelkman53 #NewTeammates #SouthSide,” Eaton tweeted. Cabrera then retweeted the message.

Cabrera was probably the best free agent player left to be signed. He is coming off a two-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. In his two years with the Blue Jays, Cabrera hit .293 and had an on-base percentage of .340, according to ESPN. This past season he hit .301 and had 16 homeruns and 73 RBIs. He has a career average of .286 and a on-base percentage of .339. He was an All-Star in 2012 with the San Francisco Giants.

It’s been a busy offseason for the White Sox, as Cabrera becomes their latest addition. Earlier this week the White Sox signed starter Jeff Samardzija and closer David Robertson. They have also acquired left-hander Zach Duke and first baseman/designated hitter Adam LaRoche. Earlier this month the White Sox offered a contract to outfielder Dayan Viciedo, but since they signed Cabrera, Viciedo would just be a backup.
