One would assume an Aaron Sorkin-scripted, Danny Boyle-directed, Michael Fassbender-starring Steve Jobs biopic would automatically be a home run. But with Sony dropping the project, and now actress Natalie Portman declining to star, maybe there is something wrong with this picture—literally.
Despite being in talks to star in an undisclosed female part in the Universal film, Variety reports the Oscar-winning actress passed on the role. Portman, in addition to Fassbender, would have also joined Seth Rogen, who was cast as Steve Wozniak, had she agreed to be in the movie.
No word has come out as to why Portman declined to be in the biopic, only that news of her involvement broke before the actress made any sort of decision on the part. Regardless of the Black Swan star's involvement, production is set to start this spring. Other actresses are already meeting with the studio for her part. Producing the movie will be Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon, and Guymon Casady.
While Portman will not be seen in Boyle's newest movie, she will next star in the recently-delayed Jane Got a Gun on September 4, 2015, so long as it isn't pushed back again. She also has Knight of Cups, another untitled Terrance Malick film and her directorial debut A Tale of Love and Darkness set to come out sometime next year.
