Oscar Isaac is going to try to get reporters to ask him about A Most Violent Year, but the actor will have a hard time. Who wants to talk about J.C. Chandor’s latest film when you can try to get some new scoop about Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Isaac said just about all he can say in a new interview with week with Yahoo Movies. He explained that he had nothing to go with going into his audition for his role. Producers wouldn’t even send him a page from the script, fearing that it might get into the wrong hands.

“They’re incredibly protective, because nowadays, with however many hundreds of blogs and this and that, people are just ravenous for content,” the Inside Llewyn Davis star said. “So because of that, there has to be such tight security around it. And it gets in the way of the process a bit, but it’s understandable.”

Isaac said that the leaks over the summer, including pictures of the Millennium Falcon and plot details, were disappointing to see. He did say that fans should still be surprised, since any theory they could come up with based on the leaks are wrong.

“I don’t think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer,” Isaac said. “And also, the [plot theories] that get that formulated based on these things — they couldn’t be more far off-base.”

In addition, Isaac said that he was actually sitting in an X-Wing cockpit in the one shot of him we see in the trailer. “There was a lot of practical effects. A lot of the stuff they actually made. There wasn’t a lot of green screen,” Isaac said.

Of course, this is just the latest quote from a star about the film’s practical effects. Mark Hamill even said that the BB-8 ball droid in the trailer was real, not a CG character.

Isaac plays Poe Cameron in The Force Awakens, which opens on Dec. 18, 2015.
