Authorities in Texas are searching for a man and issued an Amber Alert for an 11-month-old boy after his mother’s body was found stuffed in a refrigerator in a Houston apartment.

The Associated Press reported that employees at the apartment complex discovered the woman’s body in the refrigerator on Monday around 2:30 p.m. after smelling a foul odor coming from the unit.

The Houston Chronicle noted that an Amber Alert was issued for the toddler Achilles Lambert and police believe he is with his father, Patrick Lambert, 38, who is a person of interest.

"We've been unable to contact any family to help see if the child is with anybody else," said Houston Police Department homicide detective Sgt. Jason Robles.

The name of the woman found in the fridge, who is reportedly the mother of the missing child, has not yet been released.

No further information about how she died or how long she had been in there is available at this time. However, she had not been seen for about a week.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the child and his father’s whereabouts to contact 911 immediately.
