Authorities are searching for a man accused of shooting a TV meteorologist outside of the station where he worked in the town of Eddy on Wednesday.

The WacoTrib.com reported that on-air meteorologist Patrick Crawford was shot several times outside the building after a verbal altercation with a man who allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic weapon and opened fire.

Crawford was able to drive away from the shooter and some construction workers assisted him until emergency responders arrived. He was rushed to the hospital, underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.

KCEN, the station Crawford is employed by, noted on Thursday that law enforcement officials have someone in custody who they are calling a person of interest. They have not disclosed whether that person is believed to be the actual shooter.

Police also have not released a motive as what sparked the shooting.

The suspect is described as a white male, 30-35 years old, wearing a black sweatshirt, dark jeans and has a receding hairline.

Anyone with any information about the suspect is asked to contact the authorities.
