Selena Gomez is revealing even more of her emotional side to her fans, sharing a behind-the-scenes video diary of her rehearsals for the American Music Awards when she performed “The Heart Wants What It Wants.”

She cried onstage at the time of the performance last month. The song is about her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber – who she’s currently off with.

"This performance is a little bit frightening. When I had the intention behind the performance, I knew that I wanted it to be all of me, because somebody asked me a while ago, 'What's the one thing you wish people knew about you?' And I said I wanted it to be my heart,” she is heard saying in the video, Fox News reports.

She’s seen in some lighthearted moments backstage, including dancing around to her best friend Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” but she admitted that she was a ball of nerves before going out on stage and pouring her heart out.

Speaking with her friend Tiana before the show, she said it would be a “release” when she’s finally able to perform the song for the first time.
