These threats on Sony Pictures continue to worsen and as a result, the New York City premiere of The Interview has been canceled.
On Tuesday, Sony announced they were pulling the film’s stars, James Franco and Seth Rogen, from the rest of their press commitments after the hackers threatened at 9/11-type act.
CBS News notes the premiere was scheduled for Thursday night in New York following its Los Angeles premiere last week, during which there was no press allowed outside for interviews.
The threat reads, “The world will be full of fear. Remember the 11th of September 2001. We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.) Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment.”
As a result, Carmike Cinemas also pulled the film from being screened at any of their 2,917 screens across 41 states.
