Star Wars: The Force Awakens is easily the most anticipated film of 2015. You don’t need survey results to tell you that, but online ticket service Fandango did anyway. The movie even topped Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Fandango’s annual survey named J.J. Abrams’ first film in the Star Wars universe the most anticipated movie of the year, even though it doesn’t open until Dec. 18.
Of course, there are also important films coming out long before that. As Entertainment Weekly reports, Age of Ultron (May 1) came in second, followed by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II (Nov. 20); Fifty Shades of Grey (Feb. 13); and Jurassic World (June 12).
The list, which was the result of 1,000 fans polled last week, didn’t include the fifth Mission Impossible movie, Ant-Man or Mad Max: Fury Road. The new James Bond movie, Spectre, even failed to make it.
Last year’s list was topped by Mockingjay - Part I. The year's top-grossing movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, wasn’t in the Top 5.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Jennifer Lawrence topped the Fan Favorite Actress in 2015 movies list. Robert Downey Jr. topped the Fan Favorite Actor, while Fifty Shades star Jamie Dornan is expected to be the Biggest Male Breakout. Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley topped the Biggest Female Breakout.
