The United States Coast Guard is leading the search for a missing man along the Christina River in New Castle County Delaware after a barge capsized Tuesday night.
NBC 10 Philadelphia reported that three men fell into the river after the barge flipped over. Two of them resurfaced and have since been rescued, but the maintenance dredge's operator is still missing.
6ABC noted that the Coast Guard identified the missing man as 25-year-old Emanuel Gatling.
The search for him was suspended Tuesday due to water and diving conditions, but resumed Wednesday morning.
The Norfolk Dredging Company was contracted out by the Army Corps and the crew was performing a routine job when the accident occurred.
"We are all very upset,” said Charlie Meyers of the Army Corps of Engineers. “We work with these folks every day and they are like family. We are hoping for a miracle, but we believe he may be tangled up in the equipment underwater."
Authorities said the search is currently ongoing and will continue through the evening.
