Corey Sligh, a model and actor who appears on CBS’ The Young and the Restless, was allegedly beaten by a drunk driver on Thanksgiving.
Sligh, 27, and his girlfriend, Alisa Berhorst, were going to a Rite Aid in West Hollywood to drop off a turkey for a friend stuck working on Thanksgiving day. The driver was speeding through the pharmacy’s parking lot and Sligh tried to tell him to slow down.
The man hit Sligh with his car, then the driver and another person got out to beat the actor. Berhorst told CBS Los Angeles that she didn’t know if the men would stop hitting Sligh.
“The whole imagery of everything that happened last night is still very fresh and scary,” she told the station. “They almost hit people in the parking lot. They were hitting curbs, and Corey said, ‘Please slow down or we’re gonna call the cops, just go home.’”
Berhorst said that one of the men walked up to Sligh and told him, “I’m in the mood to kill somebody and this is who it’s going to be because he told me to be careful and slow down and go away.”
The LAPD said that the men eventually fled the scene, but they were later arrested after they crashed nearby. A witness helped police find them. According to E! News, one of the suspects was charged with felony assault.
Sligh was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai and suffered a broken arm. He told fans about the incident on Instagram. He joked in another post that the incident finally got him on The Hollywood Reporter.
