Pharrell Williams is teaming up with Al Gore for a “Live Earth” concert this summer to call for action on climate change issues, Gore said at the annual World Economic Forum.

Williams will serve as musical director for the event, which will see over 100 singers and bands participating.

Gore explained, “We are going to have one event all over the world on all seven continents," AFP reports.

The concerts will take place in stadiums throughout the world and Gore expects two billion people to see it.
“We start in China; Sydney, Australia; Rio de Janeiro; Cape Town, South Africa; New York City; in Paris, we're ending at the national stadium," he said. "These events will run four to six hours."

Reuters reports the concert will take place on June 18 across seven continents, which includes Antarctica.

This is a passion project for Gore, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his efforts for climate change.

“The purpose is to have a billion voices with one message, to demand climate action now,” he said.
