It’s been more than 28 weeks since the last installment, but one franchise may be coming back from the dead. Screenwriter Alex Garland said that there is a serious discussion about making 28 Months Later, the second sequel to 28 Days Later.

IGN spoke to Garland while promoting his directorial debut, Ex Machina. Garland said that he, producer Andrew MacDonald and 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle have been talking about ideas for a third film.

Garland wrote the first film, but the sequel, but he served only as the executive producer on 28 Weeks Later. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will likely stay on as Executive Producer and not write the script. However, Garland did give a hint about the likely title.

“It's more likely to be 28 Months than 28 Years," he said. "28 Years gives you one more place to go. 28 Decades is probably taking the piss.”

The series of films revolves around an incurable rage virus that wreaks havoc across Great Britain.

Garland’s Ex Machina will be released on April 10 in the U.S. and January 21 in the U.K.
