Just hours after the Oscar nominations were announced, Hollywood gathered for yet another awards ceremony. This time, it was the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s turn to hand out the 20th annual Critics’ choice Awards.

The ceremony took place at the Hollywood Palladium and aired on A&E with Michael Strahan as host.

While Birdman took home the most awards with seven, Boyhood was the real big winner, taking home Best Picture. In total, the Richard Linklater film took home four awards.

Birdman’s seven wins included three for Michael Keaton alone. He won Best Actor overall, Best Actor in a Comedy and Best Ensemble as part of the film’s cast.

The Grand Budapest Hotel, which tied with Birdman for the most Oscar nominations, won three awards - Best Comedy, Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design.

Other key awards included Guardians of the Galaxy for Best Action Movie; Still Alice’s Julianne Moore for Best Actress; Whiplash’s J.K. Simmons for Best Supporting Actor and Boyhood’s Patricia Arquette for Best Supporting Actress.

It was also a great night for anyone snubbed by the Oscars. Gillian Flynn, who was widely expected to be nominated for an Oscar, won for the adapted screenplay of her own novel, Gone Girl. The Roger Ebert documentary Life Itself won Best Documentary Feature. The LEGO Movie took home Best Animated Feature.
