Bradley Cooper’s American Sniper will hit theaters this weekend but Chris Kyle’s widow, Taya Kyle, is sharing her thoughts on his portrayal of her late husband.

Taya, who had to bury Chris in 2013, says Cooper’s mannerisms are on point.

She told Dallas Morning News Cooper does this subtle tic that Chris used to do. “It’d be almost like a tell in poker,” she said. “In a stressful situation, Chris would do that.”

Taya, who is played by Sienna Miller in the film, also recalled sitting down with Cooper and director Clint Eastwood, calling them “kind and warm,” and remembered telling Cooper she didn’t want Chris to be “stereotyped” on-screen.

“I have no idea how I’m supposed to tell you all the layers and things about this man who was so complex and yet so simple at once. How do I do that in so short amount of time?” she remembers telling him at the time.

He responded, “You don’t have to. We’re getting everything we need just by being here.”

Chris Kyle was honorably discharged from the Navy in 2009 and he wrote American Sniper in 2012. Former Marine Eddie Ray Routh has been charged with his murder after shooting him and Chad Littlefield at a gun range in Texas.

“If you go to combat and you have people who love you at home, some version of this story is your story,” Taya said.
