Nailed, the long-lost movie David O. Russell directed during his long break between I Heart Huckabees and Silver Linings Playbook, will finally see the light of day. However, it is no longer technically a Russell movie.
Millenium Entertainment released a trailer for the film, which is now titled Accidental Love, today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the distributor will release it on Video On Demand first. Ten days later on Feb. 20, the film will begin a short theatrical run.
Russell started Nailed in 2008, but production stopped in 2010 when he couldn’t get the funding to finish, even though it starred Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal. The script was written by Kristin Gore.
Biel stars as a waitress who gets a nail stuck in her head. Gyllenhaal played a politician out for attention, so he teams up with her.
There were rumblings that the film might finally see the light of day back in November 2013, when the MPAA gave it a PG-13 rating. Then in November 2014, Arrow Films picked up distribution in the U.K.
Accidental Love will not be credited as directed by Russell. Instead, the director credit goes to Stephen Greene.
Russell is currently working on his next film with Jennifer Lawrence, Joy.
