Debbie Reynolds was honored with the Screen Actors Guild’s lifetime achievement award last night and there was only one person who could possibly have introduced her - her daughter, Carrie Fisher.

After Fisher, who showed up wearing 3D glasses for some reason, made it through her speech, Reynolds took the stage. Following a touching montage of her movies, Reynolds said she was “excited” to pick up the award. She then told a funny story about how she wore a heavy bun in Singin’ In The Rain. So, she warned her daughter about buns and she wound up wearing two buns in her own biggest movie, Star Wars.

“I said, ‘Carrie be careful of any weird hairdos.’ So, luckily, George [Lucas] gave her two buns. Thank you George,” Reynolds said as the audience chuckled.

“God gave us talent, so we’re very fortunate,” she told the actors in the crowd. “We all are. What we do best, believe in it.”

Before leaving the stage, Reynolds reminded everyone that in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, she sang a song called “I Ain’t Down Yet.” “Well, I ain’t.”

Reynolds’ amazing Hollywood career started back in 1950 when she appeared in Three Little Words with Fred Astaire. She’s continued acting to this day, even appearing in Steven Soderbergh’s Behind the Candelabra in 2013. Remarkably, Molly Brown earned her her only Oscar nomination and she hasn’t received an honorary Oscar yet. Get on that, Academy.
